THE STORY BEHIND THE SPACE
In historic downtown Summerville, Kindle & Bloom’s first brick-and-mortar studio brings handmade candles, gifts, and candle-making workshops into one welcoming setting.

THE DESIGN DIRECTION
The design draws on the building’s character while introducing a fresh coastal palette, beginning outside with a powder-blue door, coordinating trim, and a scalloped awning. Inside, textured brick contrasts with smooth plaster surfaces, while a curved, tile-clad checkout counter gives the retail space a clear focal point. Custom displays and workshop furnishings were developed around the ways customers browse, gather, and participate, connecting the store’s visual identity to its everyday use. Soft white finishes, warm wood, and restrained decorative details allow the merchandise to remain prominent. The result gives the brand a physical presence that reflects its handmade products and invites customers to spend time with the process behind them.
