THE MARBLE GUEST BATHROOM

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC

Marble is one of those materials that never goes out of style. There's a reason it's been used for centuries — the veining, the depth, the way it makes a room feel considered from the moment you walk in.

This client knew they wanted it. The brief was clear: elevated, beautiful, marble — but still warm. Still welcoming. A guest bathroom that felt genuinely luxurious without losing the softness that makes a space feel like a home.

The shower is clad in a Calacatta oro porcelain — soft white with delicate gold veining that catches the light without demanding attention. It reads as luxurious without being loud. The honed marble floor continues that warmth — matte rather than polished, which makes all the difference. A polished marble floor reflects light and feels formal. A honed one feels grounded, softer underfoot, more like a home and less like a lobby.

The white oak vanity is the counterpoint to all that stone. Wood and marble together is one of the most timeless combinations in design — the organic grain of the oak pulls warmth into the room that the stone alone couldn't provide. Paired with brushed brass hardware, wall-mount faucet, and a brass-framed arch mirror, the vanity becomes the heart of the room. Elevated without being cold. Classic without being expected.

Wainscoting wraps the toilet nook, grounding it with quiet architecture — and above it, a botanical wallpaper in soft taupe and cream adds the one moment of softness and personality the room needed. It's layered but restrained. A glass pendant with a ribbed shade hangs overhead, casting warm light across the whole space.

Every decision in this bathroom came back to the same question: does it feel luxurious, yet warm? The marble earns its place because nothing around it is cold. The brass glows rather than gleams. The oak breathes life into the stone. The result is a guest bathroom that feels genuinely elevated — and genuinely welcoming. Both, at once, without compromise.
