Modern English Countryside Inspired Kitchen

For this project, I leaned into my clients’ origins from England — creating a kitchen that feels warm, familiar, and deeply rooted in the charm of a countryside English home, while still offering the ease of modern coastal living in Charleston.

The heart of the design centers around soft, layered neutrals; painted cabinetry in a warm, grounding tone; and the beautiful movement of the Taj Mahal countertops that add gentle, organic texture. The solid oak island brings English-inspired character with its furniture-style legs, rounded corners, and warm wood grain. The open shelves in front of the window allow natural light to pour through while still offering a place to display simple, meaningful pieces — a subtle nod to the airy yet utilitarian feel of English kitchens.

Brass fixtures and hardware bring in a soft aged glow, while the creamy backsplash and traditional apron-front sink tie the space together with a sense of quiet elegance. Every detail — from the sconces above the shelves to the hand towel rod — was selected to make the space feel collected, intentional, and lived-in.

This kitchen is both functional and soulful: a bright, inviting space where the family can cook, gather, and feel at home.
